Adolescent Treatment

Starting from around age 12, dental crowding and maxillary orthopedic problems are corrected. As teens are growing this stage, it is the optimal time to correct orthodontic problems and it´s possible to achieve excellent results.

Most orthodontic problems are due to inherited genetic disorders such as:

  • Crowded teeth
  • Space between teeth
  • Protruded teeth
  • Missing teeth
  • Maxillary development problems

Other malocclusions are acquired such as:

  • Thumb sucking
  • Dental disease
  • Poor hygiene
  • Accidents
  • Mouth breathing
  • Early or late loss of baby teeth

Orthodontic treatment is very important. Good dental hygiene is very difficult with crowded and misaligned teeth which can cause gum disease and even tooth loss. A bad bite can cause wearing down of the teeth, difficulty swallowing or creating pressure on the bones of the face.
